Our History
As owner and CEO of Jani-One Commercial Cleaning, formerly SBM, I bring over 34 years of experience in the janitorial industry. I started my cleaning business to earn some extra money. I always believed I would succeed because I was good at what I did. Over time, I passed that knowledge and experience on to my team.
One of the biggest lessons I learned growing up was the pride that comes from hard work and doing your best. In the beginning, it was slow. I worked part-time on the business while raising three children and working full-time as a surgical assistant. I also spent hours learning all I could about the cleaning industry. I worked long, tiring hours—most of the time, alone. I was exhausted. But quitting was never in my DNA, and that’s why I never stopped until I could see the rays of hope.
I knew I had to give more, work harder, and put in longer hours than anyone else. So I did. And slowly, it started paying off. More contracts started coming in, mostly through word of mouth.
Finally, I had the honor of having one of my customers believe in me so much, he was single-handedly responsible for helping me land a huge contract with a well-known national company. I was grateful this customer saw potential in me and my goals, and he fought for me.
I had so many people, clients, and friends who encouraged me and helped me along the way. I learned so much: how to scrub and strip floors as well as anyone, how to read blueprints to place bids for new high-rise construction office towers. I learned the importance of true customer care, inventory control, bidding, and following through on my desire to provide the very best cleaning services, and also facility management. Jani-One Commercial Cleaning is here to stay, always growing with the latest equipment, eco-friendly products, and now moving into robotic cleaning.
